How To Vote

What do I vote for?

University elections will be held from December 4 to 8, 2023. You’ll be asked to cast your vote for six different governing bodies at the same time:

• Elections at faculty level:
  • Faculty Council (Engere Fakultät)
  • Faculty Student Council (Fakultätsvertretung)
  • Student Assistant Council (SHK-Rat)
• University-wide elections:
  • Senate
  • Student Parliament
  • Gender Equality Commission

Where can I cast my vote?

From December 4-8, 2023, you can cast your ballot in several locations across campus. You can find the exact locations on the web page of the Electoral Committee following this link: Polling Stations and Opening Hours (German)

What if I can’t make it to Uni?

If you cannot make it physically to university campus you may do postal vote. Therefore, the deadline to apply for mail-in voting is Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. (provided that you have a German postal address). All you have to do is write an email to stupa-wahlen@uni-koeln with your name, your matriculation number and your postal address. Once you received your absentee ballot, you simply need to make sure it reaches the Electoral Officer by Friday, December 8, 2022 at 6:15 p.m. (German Information Page of the Electoral Comittee)
